About the Author

Katya Abazajian

Katya is an Open Data Analyst supporting Sunlight’s local policy team. In this role, she conducts research on government innovation and provides technical assistance support to local governments crafting open data policies.

Prior to joining Sunlight, Katya worked at the Urban Institute, a think tank in Washington, D.C. She provided technical assistance to Promise Neighborhoods, helped manage a national learning network of neighborhood data intermediaries, and conducted data analysis on local policy issues.

Katya graduated with a B.A. in economics and math from Claremont McKenna College. While at CMC, she conducted research on municipal best practices and redistricting reform at the Rose Institute of State and Local Government. Her interests include government innovation, literature, urban planning, and travel.
